My neighbor has a son with food allergies – for a while when he was younger pretty much all he could eat was rice and ground turkey. Well, all the green vegetables were ok but with kids they can be a tough sell. He even started getting tired of turkey. Here’s what I made for him one night to put a little fun back into food:

LA Street Dogs at Home
Bacon-wrapped hotdogs are an illicit treat you can find on the street after sports games and concerts. The vendors selling them are often unlicensed and have a home-brew stand cobbled together from a wire shopping cart and a couple sheet pans from Smart and Final. Pretty sure they’re not HACCP approved. Delicious tasting though.
Here’s my method for getting close to that flavor at home.

I used to work in Hollywood, and every so often we would take a long lunch and head West on Venice Blvd to Versailles, a Cuban restaurant famous for their roast pork and chicken. Delicious.
